MEDICAS - Thermal Body Temperature Screening

Workswell MEDICAS is a thermal imaging camera for human febrile temperature screening with resolution 640×512 px, temperature sensitivity 0,03 °C (0.054 °F) and uncertainty ±0.2 °C (±0.36 °F).

Workswell MEDICAS solution is based on a real-time continuous calibration using the Workswell BB90 black body, which is a variant of the Workswell BB200 black body as a radiation source to achieve best accuracy and thermal stability. Camera is exportable worldwide without the licence. For clear visualization, Workswell MEDICAS works with three levels: normal temperature, elevated temperature and fever temperature.

Features:

  • Variable Distance 80cm ~ 12M
  • Dual Camera - ~Thermal Full HD
  • High Resolution - 640x512 Pixels, 327,680 points
  • Automatic Detection - Real-Time without delay
  • Operability - Unmanned 24/7
  • Precision +/-2 Degrees C

The camera is compliant with ISO/TR 13154:2017, meets the requirements of IEC and follows the WHO guidelines for elevated body temperature screening.

GDPR Compliant, Human temperature is analyzed real-time without the need of data storing. Administrator has a possibility to set up video or image recording if needed.

ISO Compliant Measurement, Only different installation setup of MEDICAS camera and Blackbody BB200 allowsto meet all ISO and IEC requirements and standards. High resolution 640 px enables to measure in the eyes to achieve high accuracy.

Pre-Scan Phase Mode, Pre-scan phase mode allows measuring in the range of 3 - 11 meters (2.6 ft - 36 ft) but for accurate temperature measurement is required to follow the correct procedure and measure according to ISO/TR 13154:2017.

LED AND SOUND WARNING INTEGRATED

The thermal camera Workswell MEDICAS is equipped with visual and acoustic alarm (beeper). If the set temperature limit is exceeded, the event is alarmed optically by an LED on the front of the thermal camera and acoustically by a built-in loudspeaker. The alarm level is adjustable by admin as well as the alarms (LED and sound alarm can be activated separately).

ADJUSTABLE LEVELS - NORMAL TEMPERATURE, ELEVATED TEMPERATURE, FEVER

For clear visualization, Workswell MEDICAS works with three levels: 1) gray-white palette is used for normal body temperatures (and ambient temperatures), 2) yellow is used for elevated temperature, and 3) red is for fever signaling. The default level settings are shown below, but levels are adjustable.
This way of displaying allows to optically filter out situations where there is no elevated temperature in the image and, on the contrary, to clearly and clearly identify the situation when a person with elevated temperature / fever occurs.

CONTACTLESS TEMPERATURE MEASURING

The thermal camera Workswell MEDICAS allows to measure the temperature of the human skin and is therefore effective when the body temperature increases for instance due to virus infection. The average body temperature on the skin surface of a healthy human is in the range of approximately 35.8°C to 37°C (96.44°F to 98.6°F).

If the human temperature (measured on the surface) exceeds 37°C (98.6°F), it may be an overheating of the body or a defensive reaction of the immune system to the infection of the organism (here the surface temperature can rise up to 4°C (7.2°F), ie. to 41°C (105.8 °F)).

Accuracy: ± 0.2 °C (± 0.36 °F) (temperature accuracy according to reference blackbody)

In the package

Camera head with lens, focus adapter, Lens protection cap, Black body calibration source, Black body Calibration certificate, Black body ball adapter, Micro SD card, 5 m Micro HDMI cable, 2 x Power supply adapter, 1x Software license for additional Desktop data analyzing, Wireless Keyboard, USB micro OTG, Quick start guide, Hard transport case

HOW FEVER DETECTION WORKS

If the human temperature (measured on the surface) exceeds 37 °C (98.6 °F), it may be an overheating of the body or a defensive reaction of the immune system to the infection of the organism (here the surface temperature can rise up to 4 °C (7.2 °F), ie to 41 °C (105.8 °F). In view of the above, it is clear that the MEDICAS system is not made for detection coronavirus but it will help identify people with higher temperature as the result of infection (whether relatively harmless or as severe as SARS , MERS, Ebola, bird flu etc.).

Although it is of course not possible for the infrared camera to detect infected in the non-symptomatic phase of the disease, finding people with clinical manifestations of the disease helps reduce the infection pressure in the population.

MEDICAS: STAND-ALONE DEVICE OR INTEGRABLE VIA RTSP

  • MEDICAS runs TCP/IP server for control and it can be controlled with simple text commands
  • MEDICAS runs RTSP server for streaming Thermal and Visible video
  • MEDICAS runs FTP server and is open for data management
  • MEDICAS can be supplied as stand-alone device with connection via HDMI or as fully integrable device via TCP/IP or RTSP
  • MEDICAS can be easily integrated to any CCTV network or company network for 24/7 body screening inspection
  • MEDICAS power supply 110 VAC / 230 VAC

WHY INFRARED CAMERA WORKSWELL MEDICAS

Standard infrared LWIR measurement works on +-2 °C (+-3.6 °F) accuracy, which is absolutely not acceptable for this application. Workswell MEDICAS is a unique infrared system which is calibrated in real time on a black body which provides outstanding accuracy ±0.2 °C (±0.36 °F) (comparing to the standard value for thermal camera ±2 °C (±3.6 °F)). Thanks to this precision in measurement the fever could be detected by providing double visual alarm on warning temperature (37 °C) (98.6 °F) and the critical one (above 38 °C) (100.4 °F). An operator of the system can easily recognize a person with the fever.

ABOUT CORONAVIRUS & REFERENCES

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus. Symptoms range from a mild cough to pneumonia. Some people recover easily, others may get very sick very quickly. There is no treatment. There is evidence that it spreads from person to person. Good hygiene can prevent infection. The World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend those who suspect that they are carrying the virus wear a surgical face mask and seek medical advice by calling a doctor rather than directly visiting a clinic in person. As any other infection, infection of coronavirus is characterised by symptoms, incubation period, mortality rate, age, sex, and existing conditions of deaths.
